YOUR FILES STAY YOURS

Privacy.

Just Compare processes comparisons on your device. This policy distinguishes the desktop application from this website and the Store.

Policy draft: October 18, 2026. Publisher: The Maven Lab. Release review and a direct contact are required before launch.

The application

Text comparison, folder scanning and merge operations run locally. The app does not upload your files or collect app telemetry. No account is required, and normal comparison workflows do not call external web APIs.

What stays on your device

Preferences, recent file/folder paths and saved comparison definitions are stored in the operating system's application configuration directory. Optional recovery is disabled by default; if enabled, unsaved text and non-Git merge drafts can be retained locally for up to seven days for explicit restoration or discard. Sensitive draft contents can therefore exist on disk when recovery is enabled.

Optional Explorer integration

Per-user Explorer commands store the selected left path locally and its name can appear in registry menu labels. Enable, clear and remove controls are explicit. Remove commands before moving/deleting a portable executable. Store-package uninstall cleanup and installed data locations must be validated before release; complete automatic removal is not promised by this preview.

This website

The site is intended for Cloudflare Pages. Hosting and DNS providers may process IP addresses, request details and access logs to deliver and protect it. This site includes no configured analytics, tracking cookies, newsletter, forms or third-party embeds. App-local privacy claims do not imply the hosting provider receives no connection data.

Microsoft Store and external links

Store downloads, updates and platform diagnostics are subject to Microsoft's policies and your platform settings. Following external links connects you to those services. The app's no-telemetry statement does not describe every independent service's behavior.

Children and policy changes

The app is a general-purpose utility and does not intentionally collect personal information from children or other users. Changes will be reflected here and in the application policy with an updated revision.

Contact

A direct privacy/support contact will be added before launch. It is not configured on this preview site.
